Capcom’s released some videos and is releasing a beta to stress test the net-code (which is a nice touch if you’ve ever tried to play XBLA Street Fighter, which is laggy as hell). After watching them I’m not sure what to think.
See what I mean? The game just seems a little off. I spose the problem is that putting new sprites on an old game is a little like painting over rust. Well, that’s a bit harsh, but it just makes the old animation seem so dated and obvious. And I know it makes sense, to redraw the animation would take years, break the core mechanics of the game and all the crazy frame-counting SF2 guys would be all annoyed.
Meh, but at this stage in the game I just want to be able to play Street Fighter online, get owned by Tiger Punch spamming Sagat and actually use my 360 Hori stick on my 360, rather than MAME. Whether I’ll spend 800 points to get into the beta, I dunno.
